Seattle Seahawks guard Quenton Nelson will be OUT for the team’s Week 9 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals with a knee injury. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald announced the news during his Friday press conference, just after 1:30 p.m. PST.
Nelson popped up on Week 8’s injury report quickly following his arrival in Seattle. Despite being listed on the report with the knee injury, he participated in full in each of his two practice opportunities last Thursday and Friday. This week, he was limited on Wednesday, but did not participate on either Thursday or Friday.
Macdonald also announced that Nelson would undergo a knee procedure, and that Anthony Bradford will return to the starting lineup at right guard. Grey Zabel will shift back to left
guard.
Another shakeup to the Seahawks’ O-line: Mike Macdonald says LG Quenton Nelson will have a knee procedure. He won’t play Sunday vs. Arizona but they don’t plan to put him on IR. So Grey Zabel will move back to LG for now and Anthony Bradford will return to his old spot at RG.

The Seahawks made a blockbuster trade for Nelson just 10 days ago, sending their 2027 third- and 2028 fifth-round picks to the Indianapolis Colts for the future Pro Football Hall of Fame offensive lineman. He made his Seahawks debut against the Chicago Bears defensive line in Week 8, where the Bears made an even larger investment with their future draft capital than Seattle did, trading their next two first-round picks to the Tennessee Titans for perennial Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. Simmons was as disruptive as they come, and Nelson was left trying to acclimate in a messier situation than expected.
Turns out, Nelson might not have even been fully healthy against Chicago. He also might’ve aggravated his knee over the course of over 60 snaps against a defensive front firing on all cylinders. The Seahawks will shift back to their starting lineup that won Super Bowl LX in Week 9. Those five also looked solid together against the Kansas City Chiefs’ lesser front in Week 7. Arizona presents a perfect get-right opportunity for the unit in Week 9. Nelson will be an added bonus when he’s available again.
