Former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is preparing to begin his first season as the Las Vegas Raiders' head coach. Coaches love acquiring players they coached in previous stops. And with 53-man roster cuts transpiring over the weekend, Kubiak had plenty of opportunities to assess the possibilities.
Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, the Raiders have plucked a player directly from the Seahawks. They are signing wide receiver Cody White to their practice squad, the team officially confirmed via social media. White was waived by the Seahawks as John Schneider set his initial 53-man roster.
It's unclear if the Seahawks wanted White back on their practice squad or not. Once White cleared waivers, he was free to join any practice squad of
his choosing (if they wanted him back, of course). Kubiak and the Raiders made him a successful offer.
White just appeared in all three preseason games for the Seahawks. The former Michigan State standout hauled in four receptions on seven targets. White converted those catches to 77 receiving yards. White played 165 snaps on offense during the regular season last year, and an additional 117 on special teams.
White will now attempt to play himself onto the Raiders' 53-man roster. Coach Kubiak wanted him for a reason.
