Another devastating injury hit the crop of NFL starting quarterbacks in Week 2. New York Giants sophomore quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a potentially season-ending knee injury against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football. It further shone a light on how fortunate the Seahawks are to have Drew Lock behind Sam Darnold.
Once Dart exited the contest, it became abundantly clear to everyone watching the Giants didn't stand a chance versus the Rams. Dart was replaced by Jameis Winston, who was totally ineffective. Winston finished 11-of-27 for 111 yards and a terrible red-zone interception.
Meanwhile in two games, Lock has thrown four touchdowns while completing 72.9 percent of his passing attempts. Lock hasn't turned over the football. His
QBR is an elite 85.9, allowing the Seahawks' offense to stay efficient while Darnold recovers.
Quarterback injuries have already dominated storylines through Week 2. The Washington Commanders lost starter Jayden Daniels to a serious elbow injury. The Seahawks will face backup Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota on Sunday.
Ironically, Lock was with the Giants in 2024. After one season in East Rutherford, he returned to the Seahawks via a two-year contract. Now, Lock is leading the Seahawks in Darnold's absence while other teams stood no chance after losing their starting QB.
