Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is a compelling option to exceed 250 passing yards in Week 5 against the unbeaten San Francisco 49ers.
At the time of this article’s publishing, BetMGM Sportsbook has given Darnold +135 odds to reach at least 250 yards this week.
Darnold has completed 45 of 69 passes for 560 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions across three games played, although he only played for the first few minutes of the season opener before getting injured. He has completed 65.2 percent of his throws while averaging 8.1 yards per attempt.
The veteran QB Darnold’s recent production illustrates both his ceiling and Seattle’s willingness to lean on its passing game. In Week 3 against the Washington Commanders, Darnold completed
31 of 45 attempts for 379 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. He followed that up with 13 completions on 22 attempts for 168 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The 49ers defense will present Darnold with challenges, but none that he is not capable of overcoming to have a big day. San Francisco has been stout against the pass, as they’ve allowed only 859 passing yards through four games. The 49ers have allowed the fourth-most passing attempts to opponents this season with 145, creating the potential for Seattle to attack through the air.
250 yards is attainable for Darnold, and his Week 3 performance and passing-game upside make the over an attractive Week 5 wager.
