The Seattle Seahawks will relish their opportunity to create turnovers in Week 4. The opponent is the extremely disappointing 0-3 Los Angeles Chargers. Opposing quarterback Justin Herbert has been struggling mightily. The Seahawks will believe they can force him into critical mistakes.
Herbert has been uncharacteristically bad. He's currently tied for second in the NFL in interceptions with four (Cooper Rush, Matthew Stafford, and Aaron Rodgers, who played on TNF, also have four picks). Only Drake Maye (6) has more interceptions.
The analytics and indepth stats don't paint a healthier picture for Herbert. His 7 turnover-worthy plays (TWP) rank third among NFL quarterbacks, per Pro Football Focus. Only Maye (9) and Bo Nix (8) have put the ball in harm's
way more frequently. Herbert's adjusted QBR of 27.4 ranks dead-last among full-time starting quarterbacks (only Jameis Winston's is lower).
The Seahawks have registered a league-leading four interceptions on defense (tied with six teams). Safety Julian Love has a team-high two picks. Love is returning in Week 4 after missing the previous contest with an injury.
Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald will instruct his defense to play with confidence and aggression. Herbert keeps making dangerous mistakes. The Seahawks could force multiple turnovers in Week 4.
