The Seattle Seahawks have activated wide receiver Irv Charles from injured reserve, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, and released running back Velus Jones Jr., which created a spot for Charles on the team’s 53-man roster.
Seattle acquired Charles from the New York Jets in a trade last spring. He has played two seasons in the NFL for the Jets from 2023-24. Charles’ return provides the Seahawks with additional depth for a grueling matchup against the Broncos and their elite defense.
Charles’ abilities on special teams offers value to the Seahawks’ active roster. Jones’ release clears the roster spot needed for Charles’ return. The transaction also marks a change in Seattle’s personnel, with Jones having been with the Seahawks dating back to the 2025
season. He appeared in four games this season for Seattle.
The Seahawks will look to improve to 4-2 on the season on the road against the Broncos on Thursday, and Charles will get the opportunity to earn time in the lineup.
