Delane has played excellent cornerback through his first five games in the NFL, but he hadn’t faced anyone close to Smith-Njigba’s caliber until now. The reigning Offensive Player of the Year finally gave Delane his “welcome to the league” moment when he got a clean release off the line as the rookie was playing man coverage. Delane kept him in his hip pocket, but Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold gave Smith-Njigba one of his best throws
of the season yet. Darnold put just enough touch on it to get in the outside window of Smith-Njigba’s basket. Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Fleury has to be happy with the way his unit is working in tandem right now.
Darnold and Smith-Njigba executed an identical play to put the Seahawks first-and-goal with just seconds left in the half, against Delane again. Seattle is up 10-0 at the half at the time of this article's publication.
JSN's touchdown was set up on the drive started by Ty Okada's interception.
