There's a report circulating out there that Seattle Seahawks left tackle Charles Cross has a high-ankle sprain. Ian Rapoport and Jordan Schultz claimed it'll sideline him for roughly 1-2 weeks. Head coach Mike Macdonald says not so fast.
It was Macdonald who confirmed Cross does indeed have a high-ankle sprain. On Monday, Macdonald pushed back on the report that Cross will be sidelined on a week-to-week basis. He hopes to have his stud left tackle available versus the Chicago Bears on MNF in Week 8.
Coach Mike Macdonald says he saw the report LT Charles Cross has a high-ankle sprain, could miss 1-2 games. Says that didn't come from him, or the #Seahawks' trainer. "Charles has an ankle. And we'll see how long it's going to be. "We're not really

The Seahawks dominated the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football. Because they'll compete versus the Bears on MNF in Week 8, they essentially possess a mini bye week, with 11 days between contests. Macdonald hopes Cross' recovery time benefits.
If Cross is sidelined, veteran left tackle Josh Jones will be the fill-in replacement on MNF. Jones replaced Cross after he left during the Chiefs game. He's a quality backup, but certainly isn't as impactful as Cross is.
The Bears have the 6th-best pass-rush-win-rate in the NFL, according to ESPN Analytics. Dennis Allen's defense has 19 sacks, tied for 7th-most in the league. The Seahawks would prefer to have Cross available on MNF in Week 8.
