There were several interesting happenings to analyze for the Seattle Seahawks at running back in Week 2. They dominated the Arizona Cardinals, winning 31-7. The usage for Emanuel Wilson and rookie Jadarian Price is worth noting.
Price left the contest with an alleged chest injury. The initial update claimed that X-Rays on Price’s chest came back negative
, providing an encouraging early indication for Seattle.Wilson ended up rushing for 92 yards via 21 carries. He averaged an effective 4.4 yards per carry and was especially impressive throughout the second half. He was certainly the preferred option over George Holani, who had just four carries for 13 yards.
But even before Price exited, the Seahawks went to Wilson quite a bit. On one particular
series from the six-yard line, Wilson got three consecutive carries after Price gained two yards on first down. The Seahawks failed to convert in four-down territory, and it was Wilson who the coaching staff trusted in that critical situation.
Price was also credited with a lost fumble before exiting the contest with injury. The Seahawks made some peculiar decisions even before Price left the game. The coaching staff is obviously pretty high on Wilson. He mostly capitalized on the opportunity.
