The Seattle Seahawks released their second injury report of the week on Thursday in preparation for the Week 2 contest with the Arizona Cardinals. Starting right guard Anthony Bradford was limited with a hip injury for the second straight day. Bradford appears in legitimate danger of missing the Cardinals showdown.
Head coach Mike Macdonald will deliver a final injury report and update on Friday. We should learn more about Bradford's availability then. Until then, who should the Seahawks start at right guard if Bradford is sidelined?
The Seahawks' official depth chart has veteran Christian Haynes as the primary backup at both guard positions. Rookie Beau Stephens is listed as the third-string option in both instances. That strongly indicates Haynes would
get the nod if Bradford can't go.
Haynes has disappointed throughout his Seahawks career to date. He lost a starting position battle to Bradford last offseason and has not quite recovered since. With Bradford on an expiring contract, it's notable that the Seahawks drafted Stephens this year.
Drafting Stephens seemed to admit Haynes isn't Bradford's eventual replacement. If Bradford doesn't play versus the Cardinals in Week 2, perhaps Haynes could take advantage of an opportunity. He's running out of chances.
