The Seattle Seahawks are back in the win column following their 30-23 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in NFL Week 4. It was a sloppy affair, but in the NFL, style points don't matter... only wins do. Seattle may not have played the most memorable game, but a win is a win and the Seahawks needed it badly given how difficult their schedule is about to become.
We continuing a new trend here at Seahawks Wire called "numbers to know" and it's where we highlight some key stats for the 12's to recognize. Without further ado, here are some fun tidbits to take to work tomorrow and bar trivia later this week.
280
The number of combined penalty yards between the Seahawks and Chargers. It is the most combined penalty yards in a Seahawks game since a 13-10
win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1976 where both teams were flagged 39 times for 310 yards... which is still a post-merger NFL record!
16
The number of years since the last time the Seahawks defeated the Chargers in Seattle. The last time was in Week 3 of the 2010 season, which was Pete Carroll's first year in the Pacific Northwest.
138
The number of rushing yards as a team. A week after the ground game completely imploding with only 44 as a team last week, the Seahawks found more success this weekend with 138. Leading the way was Emanuel Wilson, who had 81. Oh, speaking of Emanuel Wilson...
2
The number of touchdowns Wilson had against the Chargers. Wilson scored through the air and on the ground. They were the first touchdowns scored by a Seahawks running back this season. This is also the number of quarterback hits safety Nick Emmanwori had, as he was even lined up as a pass rusher at times in this game.
1
The number of touchdowns Rashid Shaheed scored in Week 4. Sticking with the topic of "Firsts," Shaheed had both his first score in 2026 and his first offensive touchdown as a member of the Seahawks.
1978
The number... well... year, actually... that specific NFL data goes back. What kind of data? The kind of data that tells us if a game has ever started with both quarterbacks on each team throwing back-to-back interceptions on the first two plays of the game. For as far as we know, that is the first time in NFL history that has happened.
12
The number of total tackles Ernest Jones IV had, which led the team. Jones also snagged an interception, had a tackle for a loss and a sack in the Week 4 win.
153
The number of passing yards Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert had in the second half, which is far less impressive when you realize he only had 36 in the first half.
3
The number of successful third down conversions the Seahawks had, as they were 3-of-12. This must be improved.
147
The number of team rushing yards the Chargers had. Yes, the Seahawks extended their streak of games without allowing a single 100-yard rusher to 30, but Los Angeles had plenty of success on the ground with two players eclipsing 40+ yards rushing, and a third who had 39.
4
The number of sacks the Seahawks had as a team, including the game-winner from Uchenna Nwosu that caused the fumble to seal Seattle's victory.
0
The number of wins the Chargers have this season.
