The Seattle Seahawks released veteran cornerback Trevon Diggs from their active roster on Friday, according to the NFL’s transactions wire.
Diggs appeared in three games for Seattle this season — Weeks 4, 5, and 6 — seeing 21 total snaps. He played six snaps last week against the Denver Broncos, including four on defense, allowing a catch on his only target. He’s always had natural ballhawking instincts that can thrive in zone coverage, but struggles in man coverage due to limited short-area quickness. The Seahawks brought him in as a low-cost depth option with experience, but his weaknesses were too apparent to keep him on the field in hopes of a big play in Week 6.
The Seahawks now have four cornerbacks on their active roster — Devon Witherspoon,
Nehemiah Pritchett, Josh Jobe, and Avery Smith. They also have two on their practice squad, Michael Dansby and Andre Fuller. Both are rookies whom the team selected in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft. One or both could be elevated for additional depth in Week 7.
Diggs is a vested veteran, meaning the termination of his contract makes him a free agent. He can sign with any NFL team.
