Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Rashid Shaheed may be in line to have his best game of the season in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers after having a quiet start to the season.
Through three games, Shaheed has produced modest receiving numbers and has yet to deliver the explosive plays that have made him a dangerous downfield option. He has recorded six receptions for 53 yards on the season and has yet to score a receiving touchdown. For an offense seeking more juice, coupled with the elevated role that he was expected to have this season leading up to the start of the year, Week 4 may present him with the opportunity to have a big day.
Shaheed’s Week 3 usage offered another reason to expect an adjustment. Shaheed was not on the field during
the closing stretch of Seattle’s 33-31 loss to the Washington Commanders. Being sidelined may also give the coaching staff a clear reason to revisit how he is deployed.
The Chargers enter Week 4 at 0-3, having shown vulnerabilities that opponents have exploited. Seattle has the opportunity to follow suit and get Shaheed going with coordinated looks early on, and feed him more if Jaxon Smith-Njigba sees heavy defensive coverage in the game.
If the offense commits to involving him early, Shaheed has the speed to overcome his quiet start and have a defining performance in Week 4.
