The Seattle Seahawks are preparing to play an Arizona Cardinals team that executed a surprising upset in Week 1, beating the Los Angeles Chargers 26-14. The Cardinals' offense was surprisingly productive in that contest. There was one underrated wide receiver in particular who Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald will not have taken lightly throughout the week of film study.
When Seahawks fans about Cardinals receivers, they typically mention Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson. Well, neither of them led the Cardinals receivers in Week 1. That achievement belonged to veteran wideout Kendrick Bourne, who produced eight catches for 75 yards.
Bourne had more targets (8) than Wilson (7) or Harrison (3). The 31-year-old caught every target thrown
his way. It was Cardinals superstar tight end Trey McBride who led the Cardinals in receiving (9-95-1), but Bourne was their most impactful wideout.
It was Bourne's debut with the Cardinals after signing a two-year contract with the team in free agency. Harrison, the former No. 4 overall pick, has zero career games with 8+ catches. That adds context to Bourne's Week 1 performance.
Seahawks cornerbacks Josh Jobe and Nehemiah Pritchett will likely earn the assignments versus Bourne. Coach Macdonald won't underrate him.
