The Seattle Seahawks are currently locked into an early season collision course with the San Francisco 49ers. These two bitter NFC West rivals are slated to face off for the first time this year in Week 5 at Lumen Field. Now, for a third-straight meeting between the Seahawks and 49ers, the whole country will be witness to their impending clash.
On Tuesday, the NFL announced they were flexing the Seattle vs San Francisco game into a more prominent time slot. Previously, the Seahawks' were scheduled to take on the Niners in the 1:00 pm Pacific Time late window of games. Now, the NFL is giving them the prime FOX treatment. Seattle will now play at 1:25 pm Pacific Time, which is significant because this is the nationally televised FOX game of the week.
The Seahawks will have their game called by FOX's top broadcast duo of Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady. These guys did not call a single regular season Seattle game last year, only their two home playoff games.
NFL SCHEDULE FLEX 🚨
— ProGridSports (@ProGridSports) September 29, 2026
Week 5 - Bears at Packers moves to 1:00 ET on FOX (originally scheduled for 4:25 ET)
With this flex, 49ers at Seahawks becomes the main 4:25 game on FOX’s Week 5 slate
It says a lot about how the NFL now views the Seahawks, because they are willingly opting to promote their game over a Packers vs Bears showdown. On the other side of the coin, it really goes to show how disappointing Green Bay is this year that the NFL is kicking one of their biggest brands out of the national spotlight for a week.
Seattle is 2-1 on the year and San Francisco is 3-0, both vying for the top spot in the NFC West. It is not an understatement to suggest the outcome of Week 5 could potentially have vast ramifications for how the NFC playoff picture eventually shakes up!
