The San Francisco 49ers are expected to respond to the Seattle Seahawks’ blockbuster trade for All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson with a move of their own, according to Jordan Schultz.
League wide expectation is the #49ers will respond next after the #Seahawks acquisition of Quenton Nelson.

The NFC West is about to heat up in a big way.
The two NFC West rivals were already in a tier of their own when it comes to physicality, and likely the two best teams in the NFL. Despite taking a massive leap forward on Sunday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Seahawks just addressed one of their biggest weak points on the offensive line with one of the best offensive linemen of his generation. The 49ers have a desperate need at wide receiver, where
veterans Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel Sr. are currently out and Christian Kirk just suffered a season-ending injury in Week 7. They lost former first-round pick Ricky Pearsall, 2026 second-round pick De’Zhaun Stribling and another veteran they brought in just for depth, Demarcus Robinson, to injured reserve early in the year. Their only healthy receivers on the roster right now are Jordan Watkins, Brandin Cooks and Jacob Cowing.
While the NFL trade deadline typically starts slow, the flurry of moves should roll in after the first big domino fell. The Seahawks could still go after a running back, possibly even one that reunites Jonathan Taylor with his longtime teammate Nelson. However, “next” might be the most important word from Schultz’s tweet. All eyes are on the division leaders in San Francisco, who are expected to act quickly after watching Seattle snap up one of the best players in the NFL.
