The Seattle Seahawks have a crucial divisional matchup against the Arizona Cardinals coming up in Week 9, which will present the team with an opportunity to improve its standing in the NFC West and strengthen its chances to make the playoffs. Seattle will look to take advantage of its home-field advantage while preparing to play a Cardinals team looking to build momentum.
The Seahawks enter the matchup with a 4-4 record and sit at No. 2 in the NFC West. Arizona has a 3-5 record, good for last place in the division. With the season approaching its midpoint, Sunday's contest carries added importance for both teams as they look to remain competitive in the division.
Seattle is coming off of a 34-17 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 8, while Arizona
enters the matchup following a 33-30 overtime victory over the Dallas Cowboys. The contrasting results give the Cardinals momentum heading into the divisional showdown.
Seattle currently holds a 1-0 advantage over Arizona this season after winning their first meeting 31-7 in Week 2. A second victory for the Seahawks will move them to 5-4 on the year and in better position to try and not only distance themselves from the Los Angeles Rams, who are also 4-4 on the year and No. 3 in the division, but also overtake the San Francisco 49ers, who are currently 6-1, for the lead in the division.
