The Seattle Seahawks could explore trading veteran defensive tackle Jarran Reed before this year’s NFL trade deadline, according to The Athletic’s Jonathan Jones (via The Athletic’s Michael-Shawn Dugar), which may yield the team a draft selection to add its collection.
Reed has emerged as a name drawing interest around the league, with Seattle potentially being able to move the veteran defensive lineman for a Day 3 draft pick. The possibility comes after Seattle made a marquee trade to strengthen its roster and position itself for a Super Bowl run by acquiring superstar guard Quenton Nelson earlier this week.
Seattle has shown a willingness to be aggressive around the trade deadline, having also previously acquired wide receiver Rashid Shaheed
last season in addition to most recently bringing in Nelson. Moving Reed may provide the organization with additional draft capital while opening up opportunities for other players along the defensive line to perform.
Reed, 33, has appeared in seven games this season, totaling 11 tackles, along with a sack, four quarterback hits and a tackle for loss. He has also recorded 12 quarterback pressures across 204 defensive snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
Whether Seattle ultimately decides to move Reed or not remains to be seen, but he may be a name to monitor as the deadline approaches.
