The Seattle Seahawks recently lost fan-favorite wide receiver Jake Bobo to a season-ending injury. Bobo was carted off the field during a joint practice with the Tennessee Titans, and was revealed to have suffered a significant right leg injury. Could his absence create room on the 53-man roster for offseason darling Montorie Foster Jr.?
Bobo was being positioned as the Seahawks' fifth wideout behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, Rashid Shaheed, and Tory Horton. The Seahawks will keep a minimum of five receivers on the 53-man roster, which must be submitted by John Schneider this Sunday (August 30th).
Foster is now in legitimate contention for that WR5 spot. Sixth-round rookie Emmanuel Henderson Jr. is also firmly in contention. If the Seahawks
keep six receivers, a possibility, both Foster and Henderson will like their chances.
Foster has become a fan favorite in his own right this offseason, largely due to his appearances on HBO's Hard Knocks. The sophomore undrafted free agent is more than a fun story. Foster has been productive throughout the preseason, recording six receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Bobo's season-ending injury changed the math for the Seahawks at receiver. Foster could benefit from an increased opportunity. His 53-man roster chances just got better.
