Seattle Seahawks great Richard Sherman doesn’t view the team’s Week 9 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals as being a layup for them.
In a recent episode of “The Richard Sherman podcast,” Sherman stated that Seattle will need a complete offensive effort to come away with a win over Arizona on Sunday, and highlighted how important it will be for the Seahawks to establish the run in the game, stressing that the Seahawks will need their rushers to generate meaningful yardage to maximize their chances of winning.
With Jaxon Smith-Njigba having been the focal point of the team’s offense to an extreme degree thus far this season, Seattle stands to gain from waging a less one-dimensional offense that relies almost exclusively on its superstar receiver
against Arizona.
Seattle enters the matchup with 877 rushing yards on the season. Zach Charbonnet has a game under his belt following his return, giving him an opportunity to build momentum and catch fire against Arizona. Meanwhile, Jadarian Price is still searching for his first breakout performance of the year. Getting both backs going may prove to be critical to Seattle's offensive success in the contest.
Outside of the offense, the Cardinals will be starting Gardner Minshew at quarterback, presenting Seattle with an opportunity to make life difficult for Arizona's offense. This matchup may be a prime opportunity for the Seahawks defense to put on an exhibition and dictate the game from start to finish.
