In all my life I cannot begin to think of another Super Bowl champion that has been as widely dismissed and outright disrespected the way the Seattle Seahawks are currently being treated. The 2025 Seahawks were the most dominant Super Bowl champs since, well, the 2013 Seahawks... the two most dominant champions of the 21st century. Yet to many around the country, it's almost as if their championship season never occurred. Last year, everyone was enamored by the Los Angeles Rams and that obsession is sticking through to 2026 it seems.
The latest insult came from the popular Madden video game franchise. On Thursday, Madden 27 released their team and position rankings. Seattle's defense (which was inarguably the best in the entire NFL last season)
is only the 10th rated unit in the game. They trail both the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams who are (surprise surprise!) claim the top spot. The full rankings, as absurd as they are, can be seen below.

Further insult came in the form of the individual defensive position rankings. Out of all the groups, which included defensive tackles, edge rushers, linebackers, cornerbacks and safeties, the Seahawks had only one player in any of those top ten rankings. Devon Witherspoon made the cut as the sixth best cornerback in the game.
That's it. No one else. Not Leonard Williams who was ranked as the No. 1 defensive tackle in the league by executives, coaches and scouts... you know, people who actually understand football better than anyone else. Not Julian Love, who allowed the lowest passer rating in coverage last season. Not even Ernest Jones IV, who was tied for the most interceptions (five) by a linebacker last season in the entire league.
Genuinely outrageous. The only positive thing I can say is the fact the Seahawks are being fed an endless supply of "nobody believes in us" bulletin board material that is actually legitimate. This is a team that is going to be able to keep the proverbial chip on their collective shoulders and use it to their advantage. Last year, Seattle flew largely under the radar, and they just might do so again in 2026.
