The Seattle Seahawks unfortunately did not escape their preseason Week 2 loss to the Tennessee Titans unscathed. Injuries are always the biggest concern during the preseason. Rookie safety Bud Clark suffered a significant one that places added pressure on veteran Ty Okada.
Clark went down on the Titans' first offensive play from scrimmage, a nine-yard run by veteran running back Tony Pollard. Clark was seen immediately clutching his ankle. Several players took a knee in thought while an air cast was placed on Clark's lower leg as he was carted off the field.
Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed after the game that Clark broke his ankle and will be sidelined for multiple months. The Seahawks aren't calling it a season-ending injury yet,
but one would have to assume Clark is out of action until at least December.
The 64th overall selection in the 2026 NFL draft, Clark had been impressing the coaching staff since OTAs. The former TCU standout was firmly in contention to play a recurring role on Macdonald's defense. Clark's loss is a big hit to the defense's depth.
Clark was drafted to help replace Coby Bryant, who left in free agency. Okada, who had a pick-six in Friday's joint practice with the Titans, now faces zero competition for his role next to Julian Love and Nick Emmanwori.
Mike Macdonald tells reporters in Nashville that rookie S Bud Clark has a broken ankle and will be out for "multiple months." He said they also think second-year OL Mason Richman suffered a major, long-term injury.
