The Seattle Seahawks have reason to pursue a trade for Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver George Pickens as they attempt to recover from an underwhelming 3-3 start to the 2026 season. Adding another elite pass catcher may provide the Seahawks offense the boost it needs to help turn the team’s season around.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba has excelled as Seattle’s leading receiver in historic fashion this season with an NFL-leading 717 receiving yards to show for, while Rashid Shaheed (162 REC yards), Cooper Kupp (179 REC yards) and tight end AJ Barner (138 REC yards) have contributed lackluster complementary production. Pickens has the talent to elevate the unit, draw defensive attention away from Smith-Njigba and give Seattle another dynamic threat capable
of changing games.
Dallas’ early-season struggles may also create an opportunity for Seattle to make a play for Pickens, as the Cowboys currently sit at 2-4 on the year. If the Cowboys emerge as sellers before the trade deadline, Seattle may be able to explore a deal for Pickens, provided Dallas becomes willing to entertain offers. Such a move offers to give the Seahawks an opportunity to address a potential weakness before the playoff race intensifies.
Pickens has delivered productive numbers this season with 428 receiving yards to his name through six games played. He’s on pace to eclipse 1,200 yards receiving this year and is coming off of a year in 2025 when he recorded 1,429 yards. Playing under the franchise tag, Pickens may depart from Dallas once the season is over, but his explosive playmaking ability may justify the Seahawks investing in him early, to give him a shot at competing for a Super Bowl as the defending champions in need of his services. For Seattle, acquiring Pickens may be the move that transforms a talented receiving group into an elite unit and reignites the team’s Super Bowl ambitions this year.
