The Seattle Seahawks will close out the preseason in Kansas City on Friday night. Seattle is 0-2 so far this August, and will look to build some momentum against the similarly winless Chiefs. This will be the final opportunity for many players to make their case they belong on the active 53-man roster, so expect mostly third stringers to play on Friday.
One third string player who will get plenty of time on the field will be quarterback Jalen Milroe, and boy does he need it. Head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed late Thursday morning that Seattle's third round pick from a year ago will start and play the entirety of the preseason finale against Kansas City. Last year, Milroe got to start the entire preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers.
Now, he gets a similar opportunity.

Thankfully, Seattle's quarterback situation is more than settled. Sam Darnold is obviously the starter, and Drew Lock is firmly entrenched as a viable backup option. It's Milroe who needs these valuable reps to grow, and to show what he's learned. So far, it's been a brutal August for the second year signal caller. Through two games, Milroe has completed 11-of-19 passes for only 88 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions. He's led 11 drives that have gained a grand total of 103 yards and no points. Milroe was always going to be a long term development project, but to say it's been disappointing to see little growth is an understatement.
Milroe has a tremendous chance to help rewrite his narrative this summer with a strong performance against the Chiefs' third stringers. He will get plenty of runway in this game, and he'd better make the most of the time he'll be given.
