Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald is encouraged by having running back Zach Charbonnet back at practice.
According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, Macdonald stated on Friday that Charbonnet “looks fantastic” as he works toward returning to the field.
“There’s a process to get him physically and mentally ready to go,” Macdonald said. “We understand that, and we’ll work with him and make sure he feels great when the time comes for him to come back.”
Charbonnet suffered a torn ACL in the playoffs last season. He played in 16 games in 2025 and recorded 730 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns for the Seahawks. He also registered 20 catches for 144 yards.
Seattle’s ground game has not gotten off to a fast start to the year. The Seahawks have totaled
303 rushing yards through three games this season. The Seahawks’ offensive backfield will get a significant boost once Charbonnet returns to the lineup, as his fast and powerful rushing style offers to give the offense a versatile option that it has not consistently had as of yet this season.
Charbonnet’s presence is expected to improve Seattle’s red-zone efficiency, create more balance in the offensive backfield and provide the team with an established contributor during a pivotal stretch of the season.
