They say Seattle is the Emerald City, and to quote The Wizard of Oz, "There's no place like home!" Well, when it comes to the Seahawks, it turns out the fine people at USA TODAY agree! Recently, Nate Davis over at USA TODAY ranked 29 NFL stadiums. Why only 29? Remember, the Jets and Giants, as well as the Chargers and Rams, all share stadiums. As for the Buffalo Bills' new home, Highmark Stadium, it was left off the list this year due to it being brand new.
But what about the rest? Quite frankly, I don't care about any stadium after No. 1 because claiming the top spot on this list is Lumen Field - home of the Super Bowl LX Champions Seattle Seahawks!
Lumen Field edged out the iconic Lambeau Field, which was No. 2, and the high-tech SoFi Stadium
at No. 3 which hosts the pair of aforementioned Los Angeles teams.
Nate Davis writes:
"One of the league’s most raucous and loud settings as the crowd noise reverberates off the cantilevered roof back down to the field, it also offers spectacular views of downtown Seattle and its gorgeous surroundings. And though the roof covers about 70% of the spectators, players still have to perform in the region’s rainy environs – and if the home team does so to an elite level, it might even set off the Richter Scale."
Davis went on to mention how the success of the 2026 World Cup in Seattle helped further elevate the stadium's standing in the national eye, and it's abilities to be a world class concert venue is an added bonus.
But let's be real: this is the house the Seahawks built. Seattle's cathedral was constructed with the alter of football front and center, and the Seahawks have lived up to the billing. Since Lumen Field (then Qwest) opened her doors in 2002, the Seahawks have enjoyed a preposterous amount of success. The Seahawks are 140-68 in this span, and 12-2 in the playoffs - which include a lofty 4-0 record when hosting the NFC Championship Game. Although she may never host a Super Bowl, I think the 12th Man will be fine with that after watching how miserable 49ers fans were witnessing the Seahawks hoist the Lombardi on their home turf this past February.
Lumen Field is one of a kind, and at this point, one of the only NFL stadiums with any kind of distinct, recognizable design. I am firmly in the camp that the Seahawks do not need a new stadium, and I have written about it at length. Seeing this list only reinforces my position.
