The Seattle Seahawks believe they have the best defense in the world. They'll be able to test that theory in Week 5 when they play versus their division rival San Francisco 49ers. Quarterback Brock Purdy has been excellent, and will test this Seahawks defense.
Purdy ranks 12th in the NFL in passing yards, but his 69.9% completion percentage ranks 4th among full-time starting quarterbacks. He trails just Geno Smith, Joe Burrow, and Lamar Jackson in that category. Purdy's 11 touchdown passes is tied for first with Kirk Cousins, and his 11:1 TD:INT ratio is the best in the NFL.
That's precisely why Purdy's adjusted QBR is a league-leading 89.2. The former 7th-round pick looks extremely comfortable in Kyle Shanahan's offense. He's played in this system
for years, and he's currently executing it more efficiently than ever before.
Purdy has made six big-time throws and his big-time-throw percentage (BTT%) of 5.1 ranks 8th-best among QBs, per Pro Football Focus. He also has the 10th-lowest turnover-worthy-play percent at 2.3%. Purdy just isn't making many mistakes right now.
That's the Seahawks' challenge on Sunday. To force an efficient quarterback into an uncharacteristic mistake. The Seahawks believe they are the best defense in the world; Purdy will test that belief.
