The Seattle Seahawks have not run the football effectively over the previous two weeks. It was one of the reasons they suffered a massive upset in Week 3, losing 33-31 to a Washington Commanders team without its starting quarterback. Offensive coordinator Brian Fleury has to sort through these run-game struggles immediately.
The Seahawks were outgained on the ground 88-44 by the Commanders. Rookie running back Jadarian Price lost a fumble for a second consecutive week. This time, Price was essentially benched for making another inexcusable error.
It was Emanuel Wilson who led the Seahawks in rushing in the Week 2 blowout victory over the Arizona Cardinals, gaining 92 yards via 21 carries. He became the primary ball-carrier after Price exited that
game with an injury (after he fumbled). In Week 3, Wilson replaced the benched Price, but ran for just 14 yards on nine attempts.
The Seahawks now rank 18th in rushing, averaging 101.0 yards per game. That figure feels slightly inflated after a discouraging Week 3. Wilson probably isn't the answer. Price has serious ball-security issues that require addressing.
Perhaps Zach Charbonnet is the answer. The injured back will soon have his return-to-practice window opened. Whatever the solution, Coach Fleury has to fix the run-game issues ASAP.
