The Seattle Seahawks have a favorable matchup against the Arizona Cardinals approaching in Week 2.
The Cardinals pulled off a surprising 26-14 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1, giving them momentum heading into the upcoming game against the Seahawks. Meanwhile, Seattle will be without Sam Darnold in the game, as he deals with a hip injury. Yet, the Seahawks still have an upper hand over their NFC West foes.
Sports Illustrated’s NFL expert panel has unanimously selected the Seahawks (-205) to defeat the Cardinals (+170) in their straight-up money line forecast based off of DraftKings Sportsbook odds, signaling broad confidence in the Seahawks despite questions surrounding their quarterback situation.
Drew Lock is expected to lead the
Seahawks offense with Darnold sidelined. Lock played well in Seattle’s season opener, having completed 16-22 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown in the team’s 13-10 win over the New England Patriots. He will again be asked to deliver for the Seahawks in a game that will greatly shape the NFC West picture at the early part of the year.
Seattle has the opportunity to gain a valuable road win against a familiar opponent, while the Cardinals will look to build on their opening-week performance and protect home field. The matchup will offer an early measure of each team’s divisional ambitions and will allow the Seahawks to earn a nice advantage in the playoff picture once the earliest of deductions is made after Week 2.
