We are only a day away from the 2026 NFL season kicking off at Lumen Field, where the Seattle Seahawks will host the New England Patriots in a Week 1 Super Bowl rematch. This is it, football is finally back! With each new season coming, it's only natural for all the last second power rankings heading into the first week of the new year.
Joining them is none other than FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd. Each week, Colin reveals his version of a power ranking called "The Herd Hierarchy." In his final preseason ranking, the Pacific Northwest native Cowherd became one of the few national media members to show some love to the Super Bowl LX champion Seahawks.

Of course, the Rams weren't far behind at No. 2. It's not unusual for rankings to have the Seahawks and Rams in the top two spots, as Bleacher Report had LA No. 1 and Seattle at No. 2 in a recent power ranking of their own. These were clearly the two best teams in all of football last season, and they've done all they can this offseason to remain as such.
Still, it is nice to see someone in the national media landscape give the Seahawks their due, especially from that particular show. Cowherd's co-host, Jason McIntyre, has repeatedly (and rightfully) drawn the ire of the 12th Man this summer for his outrageous opinions on the Seahawks' projected success in 2026 (or lack thereof) and quarterback Sam Darnold's talent level.
