The Seattle Seahawks aren't the only team dealing with injuries at quarterback to begin the 2026 season. Their Week 3 opponents, the Washington Commanders, just suffered a devastating blow during their 37-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
During the third quarter, Washington's young star Jayden Daniels had to leave the game due to another gruesome injury to his left elbow. We will not share the video outright in this article, but if you are curious you can click here. Please note the video includes brief NSFW language from FOX broadcaster Tom Brady.
After the game, Washington head coach Dan Quinn confirmed it was a disloacted left elbow. ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting the X-Rays confirm no fracture, but Daniels will go in for more testing on Monday.
In a cruel twist of fate, this is the same elbow and same injury that happened in the Commanders' Week 9 loss last year to... the Seattle Seahawks.
Last year, Daniels missed the next three games before re-appearing in a 31-0 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Daniels was shut down for the remainder of the 2025 season after that game.
Injuries are unquestionably the worst part of sports. While I feel disgusted even insinuating Seattle catching anything resembling a "break" here, it is impossible to ignore reality. The Seahawks are now going to face a Commanders team starting backup Marcus Mariota at quarterback, and Seattle dismantled them 38-14 last season.
Naturally, the Seahawks cannot afford to overlook the Commanders no matter who is under center. But they were likely going to be favored going into the game, and will almost certainly be moving forward.
