With the Seattle Seahawks set to report to training camp on Friday (7/24), the offensive line returns all five starters from the Super Bowl 60-winning team a year ago. Charles Cross (LT), Grey Zabel (LG), Jalen Sundell (C), Anthony Bradford (RG), and Abe Lucas (RT) offer the offense continuity.
With camp kicking off, we've decided to list which players we expect to play as the primary backups at each offensive line position.
LT/RT - Josh Jones
Veteran blocker Josh Jones is expected to be the swing tackle on both the left and right side. His experience offers the Seahawks a quality option behind starters Cross and Lucas. Jones played 242 snaps at left tackle last season when Cross was injured.
LG - Beau Stephens
Rookie Beau Stephens may be the future starter at right guard. Expect him
to support both guard positions at camp. Stephens will receive second-and-third-team reps while learning behind starting guards Zabel and Bradford. The Seahawks are excited about his future.
C - Olu Oluwatimi
Olu Oluwatimi lost a position battle to Sundell last offseason and has remained a backup ever since. Sundell has since placed a stronghold on the starting gig, so there won't be any competition this summer. Oluwatimi has to be content with the backup center role.
RG - Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes is no longer pushing Bradford for the starting role at right guard. In truth, Haynes might be John Schneider's biggest NFL draft miss in recent years. He could be competing with rookie Stephens for the primary backup role at both guard positions this offseason.
