It appears one of the stranger public relations missteps in recent Seattle Seahawks history is coming to an amicable ending. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald has been caught in a bit of a controversy as comments he made regarding Broncos head coach Sean Payton were made public when he didn't think they would be.
Mike Macdonald recalled a story from 2024 about how Payton accused him of cheating, and general manager John Schneider threatened to sue Payton if he went public with his allegations. Macdonald was under the assumption this was a semi-private conversation between him and journalist Graham Bensinger, who has just shot his credibility he may have with trying to get future interviews with other NFL head coaches.
Seattle's top man directly
addressed the controversy during a media appearance on Wednesday, and he said he apologized to Sean Payton. Now we've heard from Payton himself....
...and it seems like any potential beef has been squashed. Payton was rather gracious with his remarks to the Denver media, saying he and Macdonald are "good." Payton even went as far as to say the Broncos are "pulling for" Seattle this year, with the exception of their Week 6 game. It makes sense, as the Seahawks are slated to play the rest of the AFC West. Any victory Seattle has over the Chiefs, Raiders and Chargers is a positive for Denver.
