Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold returned from injury in Week 3 with a huge individual performance and showed once again why he is one of the high-end quarterbacks in the NFL.
Pro Football Focus’ Gordon McGuiness ranked Darnold No. 9 overall
in his latest quarterback rankings based off of what he showed forth last week against the Washington Commanders, compounded with his overall pre-existing standing among his peers on the list.“Darnold’s first full game of the 2026 season was an impressive one despite the defeat to the Washington Commanders,” McGuinness said. “So far this season, he has produced a 26.4% positively graded play rate, leading all quarterbacks with at least 40 dropbacks.”
Darnold delivered a prolific Week 3 performance,
completing 31 of 45 passes for 379 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. He finished with a 68.1% completion rate and posted a 105.7 passer rating. Darnold also had five yards on the ground.
The veteran Darnold now has an opportunity to add to that early body of work in Week 4. Another big performance, this time supported by less interceptions, especially in critical situations, in a win over the Los Angeles Chargers will add to his status among the best players at the position in the league.
