Mixon visited the Seahawks today after Jay Glazer reported the two were in communication yesterday. Since today is the day after the team’s Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, they were able to work the free agent out before they begin their week of practice tomorrow.
Mixon hasn’t played since 2024, but was one of the NFL’s premier every-down workhorse RBs for the bulk of his career. By choosing to put him on the practice squad, the Seahawks are saying that they want him in the building, but he might still need to shake off some rust. There should be zero expectations from him until we see him on the field for the first time in nearly two years. He has enough experience to adapt quickly and could be elevated to the active roster in Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers, but it’s unrealistic to assume he’ll look like the same Pro Bowl-cailber runner.
