The Seattle Seahawks' veterans are reporting to Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton for training camp on Friday, July 24th. The rookies have already been at camp for one week (7/17). They'll do so without superstar safety Nick Emmanwori, who was placed on PUP (physically unable to perform) earlier this week.
Players placed on the PUP before training camp can be activated at any time. Emmanwori's injury has been described as minor. As we await more conclusive information, it's painfully obvious that the Seahawks cannot afford to lose Emmanwori for any extended period of time.
Emmanwori was a complete revelation for the Seahawks as a rookie safety in 2025 en route to helping the team win Super Bowl 60. The former South Carolina standout registered
81 tackles, 11 pass breakups, 2.5 sacks, and one interception in his first season. Emmanwori was a versatile playmaker for head coach Mike Macdonald.
Emmanwori plays a hyper-specific and unique role for this Seahawks defense. He often aligns more like a linebacker or big nickel as opposed to playing traditional safety roles. The Seahawks do not have another player on the roster capable of filling his shoes. Hopefully Emannwori gets activated off the PUP and joins his teammates at training camp ASAP.
