Do the Seattle Seahawks have the best secondary in the NFL entering the 2026 season?
Maybe so.
Pro Football Focus appraised the Seahawks as having the sixth-best defensive backs unit in the league in their secondary rankings prior to the start of next season.
”The Super Bowl champions were propelled by a dominant secondary throughout last season,” the PFF team said. “This group of defensive backs led the league in overall PFF grade, with their leader, Devon Witherspoon, finishing as the highest-graded defensive back in football with a 90.1 overall PFF grade. Tariq Woolen is the primary offseason departure. Safety Nick Emmanwori could assert himself among the league’s best safeties if he takes a Year 2 leap.”
The New England Patriots’ (No. 1), Houston
Texans’ (No. 2), Denver Broncos’ (No. 3), Philadelphia Eagles’ (No. 4) and Pittsburgh Steelers’ (No. 5) secondaries were ranked ahead of the Seahawks’.
However, Seattle has a wealth of talent, also including Josh Jobe, Julian Love, Ty Okada and the newly-signed Trevon Diggs that make them a force on defense with the potential to outperform all of the other secondaries in the league next season.
