The Seattle Seahawks will once again be without starting right guard Anthony Bradford against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4. Bradford was placed on IR prior to the Week 3 loss to the Washington Commanders. He'll miss the second of a minimum four-game absence due to IR rules.
The Seahawks deployed an interesting plan at right guard without Bradford in the lineup. Head coach Mike Macdonald chose to use both Christian Haynes and Beau Stephens at right guard versus the Commanders. The Seahawks essentially rotated them in/out on a drive-by-drive basis.
Coach Macdonald confirmed that will once again be the case in Week 4.
With Anthony Bradford on injured reserve, Mike Macdonald says #Seahawks' alternating of Christian Haynes, rookie Beau Stephens
at right guard will continue. Haynes 60%, Stephens 40% at WSH. Will those snap counts continue? "Really hard to do the same numbers. Probably not."

Haynes played a position-high 40 snaps at right guard in Week 3. The rookie Stephens earned 27 reps. Coach Macdonald obviously believes this strategy was in the Seahawks' best interest.
Haynes did not allow a single QB pressure or sack versus the Commanders, according to Pro Football Focus. He also earned an average-run blocking grade of 63.8 from PFF. Meanwhile, Stephens also wasn't credited with allowing a pressure to Washington's defensive line. Stephens' PFF run-blocking score was 53.4.
Haynes and Stephens will continue competing for reps against the Chargers. It's an interesting strategy. Hopefully it benefits the offensive line.
