The Los Angeles Rams may enter the 2026 season as the overwhelming favorite to win the Super Bowl, but the Seattle Seahawks have plenty of reason to remain confident.
The Rams’ lofty expectations are based largely on their star offensive talent, headlined by AP NFL MVP Matt Stafford and Puka Nacua, as well as their star offseason acquisitions and signees, including Myles Garrett, Aaron Donald and Trent McDuffie. But history offers a strong warning against putting too much stock in preseason projections.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Ben Fawkes (via FOX Sports), over the past 30 years, preseason Super Bowl favorites entering the season with odds of +500 or shorter have gone 0-for-20 in winning the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
That trend does not guarantee
that the Rams will fall short, but it does show how difficult it is to turn preseason expectations into a championship.
For Seattle, the message is simple in that the Rams still have to prove it on the field. The Seahawks have the talent to compete with the Rams. The betting odds may favor Los Angeles, but history suggests that Seattle has no reason to fear.
