One of the most intriguing players to watch in the Seattle Seahawks' first preseason game versus the Dallas Cowboys was sophomore quarterback Jalen Milroe. The Seahawks only played two quarterbacks in the 17-7 defeat, with Milroe entering the game after veteran Drew Lock had earned the start. The second-year quarterback remains an exciting talent with a rough skill set around the edges.
Milroe ultimately completed 5-of-8 passing attempts for 36 yards. He fumbled once, but the Seahawks' offense managed to recover that miscue. Milroe was sacked three times, as his athletic skill set often leads to him trying to extend plays outside the pocket (occasionally to his detriment).
Milroe rushed for 36 yards via five scrambles, including an explosive gain
of 20. The former Alabama standout looked like the same dual-threat developmental quarterback John Schneider decided to take a chance on. Milroe's process looked sped up compared to the preseason last year, which indicates he's making progress.
Lock was very effective at quarterback, going 9-of-13 for 40 yards and a touchdown. There's no question that Lock is QB2 behind starter Sam Darnold, but Milroe continues to improve and trend in the right direction. Milroe is getting better, and that's really all the Seahawks could ask of him.
