The Seattle Seahawks
have reunited with a familiar face in the form of tight end Nick Vannett. On Friday afternoon, the Seahawks announced they were signing (or I suppose technically re-signing?) their former third round pick from the 2016 NFL draft class. General manager John Schneider has an outstanding way of maintaining old relationships, as former players often find their way back to the Pacific Northwest.Cornerback Tyrone Broden was waived in order to make room for Vannett on the 90-man roster. Broden was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list earlier this summer.
Vannett was a Seahawk from 2016-2019 before he was ultimately traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in September of 2019. Vannett played the remainder of that campaign
in the Steel City, then eventually signed with the Denver Broncos in 2020. From there, Vannett became the ultimate journeyman. He spent a season and a half with the New Orleans Saints, then bounced around short stints with the LA Chargers, Tennessee Titans, Minnesota Vikings and ultimately the Los Angeles Rams to close out the 2025 season.
Vannett has hauled in 108 receptions for 1,012 yards and nine touchdowns during his 10 seasons in the National Football League. Now, he returns to where it all started and will look to earn a spot with the reigning Super Bowl champions.
