The Seattle Seahawks enter their Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers looking to get back in the win column after losing in Week 3 to the Washington Commanders.
The Chargers are 0-3 to begin the year, which gives the Seahawks an opportunity to throw the kitchen sink at Los Angeles, especially on defense, to pick up the win while sinking the Justin Herbert-led team into a deeper hole to begin the year. Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is back from injury, JSN is on a roll to begin the season, and the Seahawks defense is as powerful this year as it was in 2025, making this a great opportunity for the team to win as a unit for the first time this season with their starting QB healthy.
Here are three things to watch for in the Seahawks’
Week 4 matchup against the Chargers that may shape the game.
Seahawks pass rush vs. Justin Herbert
Seattle’s pass rush has an opportunity to dictate the entire complexion of the game by making Herbert uncomfortable all throughout the game. The Seahawks must generate pressure without allowing him time to identify favorable matchups. Sacks, quarterback hits and hurried throws may create turnover opportunities for Seattle and lessen Los Angeles’ possessions.
The Seahawks have a defense that is potent enough to stifle Herbert, but on the other hand, Herbert and his teammates have the firepower to rebound from their 0-3 start with a big performance in Week 4, making the Seahawks’ pass rush the most important factor in the game ahead.
JSN’s standard of excellence to continue against Chargers?
Jaxon Smith-Njigba leads the NFL in receiving yards (405) and REC touchdowns (6) and will need to continue playing with precision, separation and dependable hands to maintain his strong early-season start. The Seahawks will look for him to work efficiently from the slot and on the outside, convert third downs, and explode for big plays against the Chargers. If Smith-Njigba consistently finds space against Los Angeles’ coverage, he will help Seattle sustain drives and keep its offense high-powered.
Seahawks’ ground game
Seattle’s rushing attack needs a big performance in Week 4 after an inconsistent opening three weeks of play. Establishing the run will create manageable situations for the Seahawks, slow the Chargers’ pass rush down and open up passing opportunities for the team. Jadarian Price is currently hampered with a chest injury and has yet to have a huge game, while Emanuel Wilson has produced the only prolific game of the year among the team’s running backs with 92 rushing yards in Week 2.
Los Angeles has allowed 349 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns through the first three games of the year. Seattle’s offensive line and running backs must capitalize by generating early-down gains and turning red-zone trips into touchdowns.
