The Seattle Seahawks are back to defend their title as World Champions, and their quest to become only the ninth team in NFL history to win back-to-back Super Bowls. Seattle will look to avenge their lost opportunity in 2014 by winning yet another Lombardi on a division rival's home turf, as Super Bowl LXI will be held in Los Angeles this winter.
Of course, that is a long ways away from now. What matters tonight is taking their first steps of the season with a Week 1 home game against the New England Patriots. This is the first Week 1 Super Bowl rematch from the previous year since Denver hosted Carolina to kick off the 2016 season. Both teams are a little banged up going into this game, which leads me to believe this isn't going to be another
dominant Seahawks blowout like Super Bowl LX was. History tells us games between Seattle and New England tend to come down to the wire, as five of the last six meetings were one-score games decided in the final seconds of the game.

Seahawks 26, Patriots 21: History tells us games between the Seahawks and Patriots are hard-fought, close affairs that come down to the wire. Super Bowl LX was a blowout, but that's an aberration. New England is revamped offensively with wide receiver AJ Brown in the mix, and he should be able to take advantage of an ailing/inexperienced Seahawks secondary. However, I don't think the Pats will have the only improved offense on the field Wednesday night. I'm bullish on Brian Fleury's debut and what Sam Darnold can do with a returning offensive line in tact, as well as another full offseason as the entrenched starter. New England puts up a better fight, but I think Seattle is much deeper. Seahawks defensive line makes a play late to secure a victory in the Super Bowl rematch on banner night.

Seattle will start a practice squad safety, but their defense should remain dominant without Ty Okada, or perhaps even Nick Emmanwori. Sam Darnold and Drake Maye were both prone to slow starts last season, and will need to establish a rhythm early with easy completions to avoid falling into an early hole.

Patriots 24, Seahawks 20: The Seahawks will cause major disruption with their elite front four against Drake Maye, but ultimately, New England’s new receiving corp will exploit a Seattle secondary without Ty Okada (and maybe Nick Emmanwori), allowing New England to escape with the win.

Patriots 24, Seahawks 21: I am leaning toward Seattle if safety Nick Emmanwori can play in this game. If not, I believe the Seahawks' secondary is going to have a tough time staving off the Patriots' offense with both Emmanwori and Ty Okada out. With that said, the offensive line has to do a much better job than it did in the Super Bowl. Lumen Field is one of the toughest places to play, and I'm sure that crowd will be rollicking with excitement on opening night. But there are real questions there, too. How will the Seahawks' offense look without Klint Kubiak? Will the change impact Sam Darnold's game? I think the Seahawks could find real success with the run game. However, if the Patriots were ever going to steal one in Seattle, it would be in Week 1 of the regular season.
