The Seattle Seahawks need another receiver to emerge in Week 6 as Jaxon Smith-Njigba continues his historic start to the 2026 NFL season.
According to NFL.com’s Anthony Holzman-Escareno,
Smith-Njigba has accounted for the fourth-highest percentage of a team’s scrimmage yards among all players in the NFL this season at 34.8% for the Seahawks as he’s maintained his position as the centerpiece of Seattle’s offense. While his production has been exceptional, the Seahawks need additional playmakers to ease the burden of their star receiver.
Rashid Shaheed, AJ Barner and Cooper Kupp are available to help provide that balance. Shaheed’s speed gives Seattle a potential game-changing threat, though he’s off to a slow start to the year with only 96 receiving
yards through five games played, while Barner offers another option in the passing game, despite him also having yet to find his groove with 122 REC yards across five games played. Both need to take significant steps forward and become more consistent contributors.
Kupp’s experience provides value, but Seattle must find additional production throughout its receiving corps rather than leaning so heavily on Smith-Njigba.
Tory Horton presents another intriguing player that the team has the choice to utilize more in the offense. Horton has the talent to become a more prominent part of the offense, raising questions about whether Seattle is maximizing his abilities. Expanding Horton’s role may give opposing defenses another weapon to account for. As the Seahawks move into Week 6, unlocking their supporting playmakers may prove crucial to sustaining their offensive success.
