There wasn't much movement near the top of the rankings in Sunday's new US LBM Coaches Poll after Week 5 of the 2026 college football season produced only one upset of a team that was ranked in the top 10.
The top seven spots remained the same as last week. The Texas Longhorns (4-0) top the Week 6 rankings at No. 1, followed by the Georgia Bulldogs (5-0) at No. 2. Notre Dame (5-0) remained at No. 3, and the Miami Hurricanes (5-0) stayed at No. 4 following their 41-13 win over the Clemson Tigers (3-2) Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.
Indiana (5-0) rounded out the top five.
The Hurricanes sure made a good case for themselves as one of the nation's top teams. While the game stayed within two scores until late in the third quarter, Miami pulled
away behind 24 points in the final 16:51 at Clemson's Death Valley.
Darian Mensah finished 18 of 27 for 227 yards passing, and running back Mark Fletcher had two touchdown runs to finish with 77 yards on the ground.
Clemson put up a better fight than it did the last time Dabo Swinney's Tigers went up against a team with truly elite talent such as Week 1's 51-10 loss at LSU. Quarterback Tait Reynolds, making only his third career start, threw for 295 yards on 29 of 44 passes.
But Clemson had no help from its running game, which finished with only 55 yards on the ground. Reynolds' pick six late in the fourth quarter capped Miami's 28-point win over Clemson, which suffered its most lopsided home loss since a 51-14 drubbing to Florida State during the Seminoles' run to the national championship in 2013.
Clemson's offense didn't find the end zone until the 12:08 mark of the fourth quarter when Gideon Davidson scored on a 2-yard run. The Tigers' offensive line had another woeful game, allowing six sacks and nine tackles for loss to the nation's No. 2 defense. Clemson also committed 10 penalties for 91 yards.
