Clemson football’s national championship outlook continues to improve as the 2026 season draws closer, even if the Tigers are still considered a long shot to win it all.
After sitting at +25000 a month ago, Clemson’s odds have climbed significantly to +11000 at DraftKings entering August. While the Tigers remain outside the group of favorites, the move represents a noticeable increase in confidence compared to where they stood earlier this summer. It’s also a much stronger outlook than the one sportsbooks were giving Clemson just a few weeks ago.
Ohio State remains the team to beat at +600, with Notre Dame (+650), Texas (+750), Oregon (+800), Indiana (+800), and Georgia (+850) rounding out the programs with the shortest odds to capture the national
title. Within the ACC, Miami continues to hold the conference’s best odds at +1100, while SMU checks in at +10000. Clemson sits next at +11000, followed by Louisville at +12500 despite the Cardinals having better odds than the Tigers to win the ACC. Rival South Carolina is also just behind Clemson at +12000.
The jump from +25000 to +11000 suggests that bettors are becoming more optimistic about Clemson’s chances heading into the season. Although the Tigers are still well outside the group of national title favorites, the market clearly sees more potential in Dabo Swinney’s team than it did a month ago.

Of course, there’s still plenty left for Clemson to prove. The Tigers haven’t returned to the top of college football in recent seasons, and oddsmakers continue to view several programs as safer bets to compete for a championship. But with expectations rising throughout the offseason and a talented roster returning to Death Valley, Clemson has an opportunity to outperform those projections once the season kicks off. If the Tigers can put together the type of season many believe they’re capable of, their national championship odds could continue moving in the right direction throughout the fall.
