Former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence is playing the best football of his NFL career, and Sunday’s performance against the Houston Texans may have been his strongest yet.
Lawrence completed 24 of 41 passes for 306 yards and four touchdowns against one of the NFL’s best defenses. Still, his performance could get overlooked because Jacksonville lost, C.J. Stroud delivered an outstanding game of his own, and the London matchup kicked off at 9:30 a.m. ET.
Lawrence leads the NFL with 14 touchdown passes and ranks fourth in both passer rating and EPA per play. His recent success has moved him to fourth in MVP odds, behind only Josh Allen, Brock Purdy and Patrick Mahomes.
While Allen and Mahomes have far more established NFL résumés, Lawrence is building
a case to join the conversation. Despite Sunday’s loss, Jacksonville leads the AFC South at 4-2 and remains the division’s only team above .500.

If Lawrence sustains this level of play and keeps the Jaguars atop the division, the former Clemson star could make a serious push to become the first player in program history to win NFL MVP honors.
