One of Clemson football’s most familiar non-conference opponents is disappearing from the schedule for the foreseeable future.
Clemson and Georgia have canceled four games that were set for 2029, 2030, 2032 and 2033, according to the Athens Banner-Herald. The change removes two future trips to Athens and two scheduled games at Memorial Stadium.
The Tigers were supposed to host Georgia in 2029 and 2033, while the Bulldogs were scheduled to host Clemson in 2030 and 2032.
The move comes as both programs deal with less flexibility in future scheduling. Clemson is moving forward with a nine-game ACC slate while continuing its annual rivalry with South Carolina. The Tigers also begin an extended series with Notre Dame in 2027 and still have Oklahoma
on the schedule for 2035 and 2036.
Georgia is facing a similar situation with the SEC expanding its conference schedule while the Bulldogs continue playing Georgia Tech each season.
That makes another Clemson-Georgia series more difficult to fit.
The two programs have played 66 times, with Georgia holding a 44-18-4 advantage. Clemson and Georgia were once regular opponents, including a stretch in which they met 24 times between 1962 and 1987.

Their most competitive run came from 1977 through 1987. Clemson and Georgia went 5-5-1 during those 11 meetings, with nine games decided by seven points or fewer.
The rivalry has become much less frequent since then.
Georgia has won the last three meetings, most recently beating Clemson 34-3 in Atlanta to open the 2024 season. With the four future games now canceled, another meeting between the Tigers and Bulldogs is not currently scheduled.
