Clemson will likely turn to freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds when the Tigers face North Carolina next weekend.
Christopher Vizzina is expected to miss the matchup after suffering a left elbow injury during Clemson’s 22-7 win over Georgia Southern on Saturday. According to On3’s Pete Nakos, the injury is to Vizzina’s non-throwing arm and could sideline him for one to two weeks.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel also reported that Vizzina is considered “week-to-week.”
Vizzina left Saturday’s game after Clemson’s first three offensive possessions. Dabo Swinney later said the quarterback could not feel his left arm, leading the Tigers to pull him from the contest.
Before exiting, Vizzina completed four of seven passes for 19 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Reynolds handled the majority of the work from there and finished 16-of-27 passing for 178 yards. The freshman is now in line to make the first start of his Clemson career against the Tar Heels.

The Tigers improved to 1-1 with Saturday’s victory after opening the season with a rough 51-10 loss at LSU. Both Vizzina and Reynolds have seen action in each of Clemson’s first two games as the offense searches for more consistency early in the season.
For now, Reynolds appears set to get the opportunity to lead the offense while Vizzina recovers. If the reported one-to-two-week timeline holds, Clemson could have Vizzina back relatively soon, but he is not expected to be available against North Carolina.
