Clemson will head into its second game of the season without a clear-cut answer at quarterback.
Dabo Swinney confirmed Tuesday that both Christopher Vizzina and Tait Reynolds will see the field Saturday night against Georgia Southern. The two are listed as co-starters on the Tigers’ latest depth chart after neither was able to separate himself in the season-opening loss at LSU.
Vizzina earned the initial starting job following a close competition during fall camp, but Swinney had already indicated Reynolds would get opportunities.
That plan became difficult to evaluate once Clemson quickly fell behind LSU.
“We didn’t really come out of the game with true clarity,” Swinney said. “It just wasn’t enough. So we gotta keep moving, and eventually something’s
going to happen one way or another.”
Vizzina completed 10 of 16 passes for 83 yards against LSU, while Reynolds finished 4 of 6 for 22 yards. Swinney said Vizzina graded slightly better overall and noted that the senior began the game reasonably well before pressing as Clemson’s deficit grew.

Still, the difference has not been significant enough for Clemson to move away from Reynolds.
“I thought CV graded a little bit better, and he was ahead in camp. That’s why he started,” Swinney said. “But not so much to where we don’t need to give Tait an opportunity to play some.”
For now, Clemson appears willing to let the competition continue on the field.
The Tigers host Georgia Southern at 7:30 p.m. Saturday on ACC Network.
